Jackson Pollock Painting!

As I mentioned in June's newsletter, July was kind of a summer celebration of famous artists. The most hands on, was artist Jackson Pollock. Ya'know the "splatter paint guy".
I basically let the kids practice at the art table at first. Once they got the flick of the wrist down, I brought the splatter celebration outside. I would've liked to do a giant painting but my butcher paper wasn't strong enough. I need to make a trip to Lowes for a BIG roll. I have a white curtain I found on clearance and I think that would be a great canvas for some Pollock style painting...next time.
I went with what I had which was still nice because the kids got to take home their work. I taped paper along my front porch area and let the kids get crazy. Some "flicked" more than others. Some just forgot the paintbrush and started fingerpainting, which happens ALOT at this age, and I think all of them began painting themselves!
The kids had a blast getting dirty and they had even more fun cleaning themselves in the kiddie pool. Next time Pollock style painting is done, bathing suits will be worn and a bigger canvas will be needed!

  1. Free to explore to themselves without the mess in our homes! Gotta love Joanna for that alone!
FYI the art they do at Joanna's makes for great gifts for grandparents and other relatives!
Can't wait for Sophie to be old enoough to explore her inner artist with Miss Joanna!
