Hi! My name is Joanna Culmone. I am a 27 year old single female trying to make a dream come true of becoming successful at being self empolyed while truly loving what I do! I started a group called Mom's Morning Out! which is a 3 hour drop off program, Monday through Friday, for kids ages 3-6 years old. We center our mornings around art (or try to), and kids create their own experiences by using imaginatve play, dancing, singing, and socializing. You can email me at mmoorlando@gmail.com if you have any questions. I would love any feedback you have and if your in the Orlando area I would love for you to drop by!
My Art Background...As a child I can remember sitting and drawing for hours on end. My friends would make me teach them how to do bubble letters and my sister would get me to design her newest business logo. In college I graduated with a Visual Communications degree, from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, where I learned graphic design, illustration, photography, painting, and 3D design. Not long after graduating I moved from Brigantine, NJ, my hometown, to Orlando, FL. In Orlando I worked in learning centers and in the Orange County Public School system. It's not much to do with my degree but being happy working with children is another passion of mine.
Mom's Morning Out!...MMO! is a new adventure in me being a sole business owner and being happy in what I do everyday. My interest in art reignited and soon became a wildfire after reading other blogs from moms simply creating wonderful art with their own children or in art groups. After reading such great ideas I thought to myself..."I can do that!" And so...Mom's Morning Out! was born. My quest to blend my two passions of children and art together to form my very own business started about three months ago. Slow and steady I am getting an increased number of children enrolling, and my dreams are hopefully soon to become a reality. MMO! is structured but children are free to explore. I would never want to stifle a young childs imagination and freedom of expression. At MMO! pink dogs with seven legs exist and a one eyed penguin can go hiking in Florida! During our 3 hours of "freedom" kids bounce around from the play area, tactile table, the art room and outside. Watching the kids explore with different paints, colors, textures, sculptures, and clay opens my eyes to different ways that even I haven't even thought of!
A blog?...I dabbled with websites and other advertising strategies and although that may come in the future, I thought what better way to connect with parents than to show them exactly what happens at MMO! It lets parents who bring their kids see the process instead of just seeing the finished products and lets newcomers take a look and see if this is something their child would be interested in doing. Better yet I can get feedback from other bloggers, artists and parents to communicate their thoughts, comments and ideas to make Mom's Morning Out! always improving!
Thanks for visiting!
